Kermesse

The Kermesse finds at the 3.Sunday in October instead of, which in some areas as “Allerweltskirta” is designated. This celebration is strongly embodied and with various rituals connected in the people faith. Far visible indications is the “Zacherl”, a red-white flag, on Kermesse Sunday of the church towers blows reminded and humans of the daily gospel, where the Customs officer Zachäus had risen to a tree, in order to see the temporary Jesus.

The Kermesse ,Kirchweih, the Kirta, the Kerwa or the Kirwa was a large family celebration and kinship celebration, that was already prepared before days. The harvest was brought in and most farm works terminated. It was on the one hand time for thanking and on the other hand time for celebrating. Kirchweih food was large. It was brought on the table, which gave the kitchen. Beside the Kermesse geese and ducks there were “Kermesse noodles”, in the hot were baked fat out. With the Kermesse, becomes the respective anniversary of a Kermesse, or the name day of the Church patrons held.
